DJ and 'godfather' of the UK club scene Norman Jay MBE talks of his love for Spurs...
The release of the forthcoming season's fixtures is always a key date in the football-free summer but one of our famous fans literally organises his life around it.
Norman Jay MBE, 'godfather' of the UK club scene and legendary DJ, is one of the most famous and therefore sought-after DJs in the world.
But how does a man whose job takes him all over Britain, Europe and the world manage to see his beloved Spurs?
Here's how. "I try and organise most of my UK dates around the football," said Norman. "As soon as the fixtures are out, if we're at Newecastle, I'll try to make sure I'm playin in Newcastle that night or the night before."
Norman's love affair with the club started in the late sixties. "It was basically after the 1967 FA Cup Final. I was a very young kid, watched it on the television and loved the team playing in white, even though it was in black and white!
"Tottenham was the team for me and I supported them for a couple of years at school before my first appearance at the Lane towards the end of the 1968-69 season and I was totally, totally hooked and basically I've been going ever since.
"It's annoying and I've been asked before but I can't remember my first game, I think the excitement of the day got to me. I'm pretty sure it was Liverpool or Sunderland at home - it was a team in red.
"But I can remember my first away game I ever went to. It was towards the end of the 68-69 season. It was West Brom away and I went all the way up to Birmingham on my own, I was about 10 or 11, because I had family there.
"So I sneaked off the Birmingham on the pretence that I was visiting my family and I went to the football!
"After that season I didn't miss a match home or away, 70-71, I went to all 42 league games. As I went through school, getting an education, getting jobs, I couldn't go as much but I went the seventies, eighties and when my two lads were born, I started to take them."
Norman has seen first-hand FA Cup wins, League Cup wins, UEFA Cup wins - he now harbours another dream.
"I've a fantastic job, I love what I do and it takes me all over the world, all over Europe and I would love to be at the San Siro or the Bernabeu when Spurs are playing there. That would be a dream come true."
