Familiar foe for Eric

Having played alongside Burnley hotshot Danny Ings for England Under-21s, Eric Dier has reiterated the need to nullify the front man’s threats in Wednesday’s FA Cup replay.

We’ll try again to settle our Third Round tie with the Clarets after last Monday’s meeting at Turf Moor ended 1-1, Sam Vokes cancelling out Nacer Chadli’s ninth goal of the season.

On the bench in Lancashire, versatile defender Eric says his international colleague Ings could be a key figure for Sean Dyche’s men at White Hart Lane – but he remains confident in our ability to get through to the next stage and a home tie with Leicester City.

“Danny Ings is a massive threat and he’s probably their most dangerous player,” said the 20-year-old. “I’ve played with him at England Under-21 level and I’ve seen at close quarters that he’s a really good player.

“He’s shown that he’s very sharp, so we’ll have to keep an eye on him.

“In terms of the game itself, Burnley made it difficult for us and their style of play was tough to play against last week but at White Hart Lane we fancy our chances – especially with our recent home form going in our favour.”
