All eyes will be on Cambridge United at Old Trafford this evening – and one of our players could be involved.
Dominic Ball joined the Us on loan on January 22 - a day before their momentous 0-0 draw against United in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Abbey Stadium.
Development squad defender Dominic was an unused substitute on that famous night and has featured in Cambridge’s two matches in League Two since then, making his Football League debut against Dagenham & Redbridge and then starting at Luton on Saturday.
Now he’s ready for arguably the biggest match in Cambridge United’s history at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
“I can’t wait, I’m so excited and all the lads are buzzing,” said Dominic, who played eight times for our Under-21s this season before his loan move.
“It would mean everything to get on. I was on the bench for the first game and hopefully I’ll have a chance this time around. One thing’s for certain, I’ll enjoy the whole experience.
“It means so much for Cambridge to have a replay at Old Trafford as well.
“It will be tough, obviously, because at Cambridge there was the outside chance of a shock result. We’ve worked on things leading up to this game, we’ll all work our socks off and the main thing is to enjoy an occasion like this. It will be such a good experience to play at Old Trafford.”
