Etienne's goal

Thu 15 January 2015, 16:40|Tottenham Hotspur

Etienne Capoue was delighted to play his part as we came from 2-0 down to topple Burnley 4-2 in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

And the French midfielder told Spurs TV afterwards: "I'm ready to give everything to the team."

Etienne struck a beauty to level the scores just before half-time after we’d found ourselves 2-0 down inside seven minutes of the third round replay at the Lane.

Paulinho pulled the first goal back, Etienne’s rasping drive made it 2-2 and quickfire goals from Vlad Chiriches and Danny Rose settled it in the second half.

We now play Leicester City at the Lane in the fourth round on Saturday, January 24 (3pm).

“I’m very happy after our bad start,” said Etienne, who fired in his second Spurs goal and first since January last year.  “It was an amazing comeback.

“It was important to come back quickly to 2-2. I was lucky to be in the right place and smashed it in. I was very happy for the team and to finish the game so well.

“We have to carry on in this way. This was a good game for us, okay, the start was bad, but we have to think about the 70 minutes after that.

“We’ll all enjoy it now but tomorrow (Thursday) it’s finish and we need to take three points against Sunderland on Saturday.”
