Erik Lamela says we’re “up for the challenge” as we look for our second consecutive victory over Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League.
We take on the Greek side this evening, seeking to continue the form that saw us run out comfortable 5-1 winners at White Hart Lane a fortnight ago.
Footage of Erik’s first goal in that match made waves around the world, his classy ‘Rabona’ strike already being touted by many as goal of the season.
But it’s the points available from tonight’s fixture at the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium that are most important to the Argentine international at the moment as he anticipates another difficult test on foreign soil.
“Three points would put us in the driving seat in the group,” said the 22-year-old. “The Europa League is a big competition for us and, while every competition is equally important to us, our mindset is good and we’re looking forward to it.
“We’re motivated to go there and win but we’re fully aware that every away game in the Europa League is not easy.
“It will be tough but we’re up for the challenge.”
