Erik Lamela wants to carry over our cup form into the Premier League – starting in Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
The Argentine attacker opened the scoring as we saw off Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening, having also bagged a sensational double in last week’s 5-1 Europa League defeat of Asteras Tripolis.
Consecutive Premier League losses since the international break, however, have left Erik hungry for improvement on the domestic scene.
And he’s earmarked this weekend’s match at Villa Park as a chance to turn our fortunes around.
“After Wednesday we are looking good in the Capital One Cup and we are doing well in the Europa League – now we need to change our position in the Premier League,” said the 22-year-old.
“We know what we have to do and we are trying and working towards this.
“Aston Villa will be a difficult match but we know we are capable of winning. We have won or drawn most of our away matches and we want to get the three points on Sunday.”
