Eric ready for Villa battle

Eric Dier is determined not to allow Aston Villa to seize the upper hand in Saturday’s clash at White Hart Lane.

Our visitors are battling to get away from the relegation zone in the Premier League and are sure to come out firing in a bid to pick up the points they need to claw themselves up the table.

For central defender Eric, facing a team in Villa’s predicament is always tough – as illustrated by last weekend’s goalless draw at Burnley.

Nevertheless, the 21-year-old is confident we can return to winning ways at the expense of the men from Villa Park.

“It’s always difficult when you play teams towards the bottom of the table who are fighting for their lives – as it showed at Burnley last week,” he said.

“The Villa players will be battling for everything and the most important thing on Saturday is that we match them for desire and effort and then play our own football to try to win the game.

“We want to get the victory and then we’ll just look to keep working hard for the remaining few games of the campaign and see where it takes us.

“This is the Premier League, things can change very quickly and if we can get on a winning run, who knows what might happen?”
