We regret to announce the passing of our former player Eddie Gibbins who sadly passed away on Sunday, aged 85.

A centre half, Eddie made four senior appearances for us during 1953 – including three in the FA Cup. A former Tottenham Junior, he had previously made two wartime appearances as an amateur back in 1944 and had loan spells with Finchley and Chelmsford City. He retired from the professional game towards the end of 1954 and took up coaching as well as working in our ticket office.

Eddie - pictured above alongside Bill Nicholson - was employed by the Petroleum Transport Company as manager of their Summerhill Road depot in Tottenham for many years until retiring during 1989.

In recent years he had lived at Taunton.

Eddie passed away peacefully at a nursing home at Kingston St. Mary on August 7.

We send our condolences to his wife Audrey, sons Raymond, Geoffrey and Roger and grandchildren Joe and Hanya at this sad time.
