Christian Eriksen was well aware of ‘second-season syndrome’ when he stepped out at West Ham back in August.
The Danish playmaker made an impressive start to his career at Spurs in 2013-14, scoring 10 goals in all competitions in his first season including seven in 23 starts in the Premier League and lifted our One Hotspur and Supporters’ Clubs Player of the Season awards.
This time around he topped his goals total with 12 including 10 as he started 37 of 38 matches on our way to finishing fifth in the Premier League.
There were many highlights as well including dramatic late winners and his personal favourites – both goals against Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup semi-final, second leg, to take us to Wembley.
Not bad for what he describes as ‘an alright season’!
“You always have to make sure you don’t fall through from the first season, which went really well,” said Christian.
“Of course, it was a more difficult second season but I think I showed that I’m capable of playing here, getting my goals as well, and helping the team.
“Personally, I had some games I want to forget but there were also games I want to remember.
“It’s been an alright season. There has been a little bit of everything, late goals, free-kicks, but no headers though!
“I’m pleased to score double figures again, everyone wants to score goals and I’ve scored 10 in the Premier League, so I’m really happy with that.”
