Dier: 'We have what it takes to beat City'

Eric Dier has spoken of his confidence ahead of one of our biggest games of the season this weekend.
We travel to league leaders Manchester City on Saturday at 5.30pm, looking to become the first team to beat Pep Guardiola’s troops in the top flight this campaign.
Indeed, the only blemish on an otherwise perfect record for City is a 1-1 draw at home to Everton back in August but Eric, who has been an important figure in central defence alongside Jan Vertonghen in the absence of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez of late, is ready to give everything in a bid to keep their star-studded front line quiet.
“It’s a huge game for us – for them as well,” said the England international, drawing the battle lines at Hotspur Way today (Friday).
“We’re excited for it and I’m sure it’s going to be a really enjoyable game for Tottenham fans, City fans and football fans in general.
“Nobody has beaten them yet so we can’t say what it is exactly that’s going to be the key but I think we have what it takes to beat them. It’s up to us to put these words into action now.
“Football has two sides to it – attacking and defending and in both sides of our football we like to be aggressive and on the front foot, so I don’t think that will change at City.”
Asked about how his central defensive partnership with Jan is holding up ahead of the game, Eric continued: “I’m enjoying it, playing there with Jan. We have a great relationship and we take that onto the pitch. There’s a good understanding between us and I can always learn a lot from players like Jan with the experience that he has.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing there with him and hopefully we can do well at City.”
