Dallas Spurs does Club proud for Thanksgiving

Our Official Supporters’ Clubs in the USA are once again acting as a force for good in their communities for Thanksgiving.
Dallas Spurs - one of 163 Official Supporters’ Clubs we have across the world, including over 40 in North America - has been leading a fundraising drive amongst its members in recent weeks.
Monies raised during Dallas Spurs meet-ups for our recent matches with Arsenal and West Ham have been used to purchase food stuffs for the local Community Pantry of the North Texas Food Bank.
The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a top-ranked nonprofit relief organisation, providing access to more than 170,000 meals each day for hungry children, seniors and families.
As a result of their efforts, Dallas Spurs have been able to purchase over 200 lbs worth of food for the Community Pantry.
Dallas Spurs board member, Shane Keller, said: “We like the idea of donating to a charity where we can directly meet the recipients of our efforts. Last year, the Pantry was running low on foodstuffs when we delivered our goods. Our donations hit the shelves the minute we delivered them and were ‘purchased’ within hours.
“This year, we are well on our way to eclipse last year’s donation total, with our last collection date taking place at our local pub during the West Ham match. We are now tracking to provide somewhere close to 500 meals this Thanksgiving. That is well beyond our initial expectation.
“I have met with many of the gracious people who benefit from our donations. It is humbling to know that a few dollars or some canned food items here and there can make such a difference.
“We started this food drive because we thought it was a good idea. However, it has had a galvanizing impact on our membership. The participation and support by our members has been amazing. I have never been prouder to be a member of Dallas Spurs.”
It once again goes to how the passion of our fans across the world is being used to do so much more than simply cheer on the team on matchdays.
