Coach's Corner

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton describes new loan signing Stephane Dalmat as a 'modern day' midfielder.

In using that description, our first team coach is making the point that the 24-year-old Frenchman's ability does not restrict him to a single position across the middle of the park.

The deadline-beating capture from Inter Milan began training at Spurs Lodge this week and Chris added that bringing him in should certainly strengthen our hand for the challenges ahead.

"We've watched lots of tapes of the player and he is a very good acquisition for us," said Chris. "Certainly one for the team and also for the squad.

"If I look at the squad we have now it has grown and some of the young players have got more experience. It is about having a good squad because we know we'll get injuries and it is about making it as strong as we can.

"I think the best way to describe him is as a modern day midfield player. There is always a lot of talk about a holding type player or one with a lot of creative ability, but you look at the best midfield players around they can do a bit of everything.

"They need to take responsibility at the back or to create something for us - I think he is a good all round midfield player."

The timing of Stephane's arrival, Chris concluded, should be of benefit to him as he attempts to settle quickly in his new surroundings.

"It is probably a good week for him to come in, the fact that it is an international week, it will give him a chance to get used to it all without going straight into a high-tempo game."
