Tottenham HotspurOne of our players will have the chance to throw the first pitch at one of sport's most famous venues - Wrigley Field, Chicago - during our Tour of the USA and Canada.
The ceremonial first pitch is one of the great traditions of baseball, where a guest of honour throws a pitch to the home team's catcher to signal the start of the game. A number of US Presidents have made the first pitch, including John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and George W Bush.
We are in Chicago for a pre-season friendly match against Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on Saturday, July 26 - the final leg of the Tour which begins in Seattle and continues in Toronto.
The squad will be at Wrigley Field on Thursday, July 24 to see the Cubs take on the Padres.
So who gets the chance to pitch? The players have held a competition to determine who will step up with candidates including our former US international goalkeeper Brad Friedel, Harry Kane, Lewis Holtby, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Michael Dawson.

The opportunity has come about through the technical partnerships both the Club and the Cubs have in place with sportswear giants, Under Armour.
Brad said: “It will certainly be a special moment for whichever player gets the chance to throw the first pitch at Wrigley Field – one of Major League Baseball’s most historic and iconic venues.
“We have an extremely competitive squad, with all players sharing a desire to succeed, so it will be interesting to see who wins the chance to step up to the mound.
“I speak on behalf of all the players in saying that we are very much looking forward to our pre-season tour of the US and Canada, in particular getting the chance to meet so many of our passionate supporters in that part of the world and testing ourselves against quality MLS opposition.”
Members of the ‘Chicago Spurs’ Supporters Club will be in attendance at Wrigley Field before holding a special event at Atlantic Bar & Grill the following night.
The team, meanwhile, will meet supporters at an Open Training session held at Toyota Park on Friday, July 25 before the match against the Fire at the same venue the following day.
