Daniel Levy, the Club's Chairman, yesterday confirmed that a naming rights partner would be sought to support the financing of plans for our proposed new Stadium.

Daniel Levy, the Club's Chairman, yesterday confirmed that a naming rights partner would be sought to support the financing of plans for our proposed new Stadium.

"It's a necessary and critical component of financing a modern football stadium," confirmed Daniel during a round of media interviews at White Hart Lane yesterday afternoon.

"We are well aware of the history and great affection our fans have for White Hart Lane but our plans involve us moving to a completely new Stadium and if you want progress, things do have to change."

Stadium naming rights agreements have become increasingly common in Europe in recent years following great success in the United States where virtually all new stadia are part-financed by this special sponsorship arrangement.

Paul Barber, Executive Director, whose team will lead the work to find the Club's naming rights partner, said: "Our initial research shows that a major new Stadium development for a world famous football club in London with a brand as prestigious as Tottenham Hotspur has the opportunity to generate significant and important funds to support the financing of our proposed development.

"All Spurs fans have been waiting for exciting news on the Stadium. It's now very important that we explore all avenues of financing to ensure that we have a viable project. With the Premiership's global reach, our stadium naming rights partner could come from anywhere in the world. This will further help to grow our Club's reputation and to expand our fanbase internationally."

Daniel added: "We now have an important period of public consultation and exhibitions before finally submitting our plans for the new Stadium to Haringey Council. This is a very exciting development in the Club's 126 year history and we are very confident of securing the support of a major international brand to sponsor the new stadium at the appropriate time."
