Best yet - Harry

Fri 02 January 2015, 10:55|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane was left to reflect on his biggest goal yet and our 'immense' fans after our thrilling victory against Chelsea on New Year's Day.

The young striker took his tally to 17 in all competitions in a superb display both individually and from the team.

Harry combined superbly with fellow goalscorer Nacer Chadli throughout as we came back in style after Chelsea opened the scoring on 18 minutes.

Harry hit goal number 16 to bring us back on level terms on the half-hour and it was a beauty, cutting in from the left and shrugging off Oscar before drilling home low from 30 yards.

The momentum was with us. Danny Rose made it 2-1 after Nacer hit the post and then Harry was brought down for a penalty dispatched by Andros Townsend for 3-1 at the break.

Nacer set-up Harry for 4-1 on 52 minutes, Chelsea hit back again through Eden Hazard but Harry then returned the compliment for Nacer to make it 5-2 and game over. John Terry struck a late consolation.

Asked if his opener was his best yet, Harry told Spurs TV: "Yes, with the moment and the situation we were in against one of the best teams in the world, I was delighted to score.

"It was good to get us back into the game and to come back and win the way we did. It was a great night for us.

"Whenever I get the ball on the edge of the box, I always look to shoot and thankfully it went in. From there we really pushed on, built momentum and ended up with five goals against a really good defence.

"The fans were immense. They will be buzzing going into the New Year having beaten one of their London rivals. I’m delighted for the fans and delighted for the club. Hopefully we can take the belief from this game into the matches ahead."
