Ben on first North London Derby

Ben Davies wants nothing less than three points from his first North London Derby.

The Welsh international has been on a winning team at the Emirates before, having played in Swansea City’s 2-0 victory there in December, 2012.

And the fact that the Swans battled out a 2-2 draw in the corresponding game last season means the Neath-born left-back has never lost a Premier League contest at Arsenal.

Of course, the whole dynamic of the fixture has changed for the 21-year-old now that he’s a Spurs player – and that’s something that’s not lost on him as we approach Saturday’s showdown.

“If I get the chance to play I’ll relish the experience because I realise how much it means to everyone,” said Ben, who played 90 minutes and got the assist for Ryan Mason’s equaliser in our midweek Capital One Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

“There’s no player here that doesn’t understand the importance of this game and we know exactly what it means to the fans, but it means a lot to us as players as well and we want to get the win.”

On Wednesday’s 3-1 win against Championship leaders Forest, where goals from Mason, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane saw us through following Jorge Grant’s opener for the visitors, Ben reckons the result was probably a fair one in the end.

“It’s very difficult, especially when a team comes as organised as Nottingham Forest did, putting 10 men behind the ball most of the time,” Ben added.

“It was a disappointing goal to concede but we were patient, kept going and Mase came on and got a wonder goal to give us the spark we needed. Over the course of the game we probably deserved to win.

“We still need to work on a few things as a team but we’re getting there and I think Wednesday night was a step forward.”
