Aaron Lennon marked his return to action with a wonderful goal as our Spurs XI side toppled Bishop's Stortford 8-1 on Wednesday night.

The electric winger joined midfielder Jermaine Jenas for a 45-minute shift at Woodside Park and both were heavily involved in their first friendly of the summer following their return to training after World Cup duty.

In a game we dominated, Aaron gave the packed crowd what they wanted just before half-time when he picked up the ball 30 yards from goal, weighed up his options before picking his spot with a sublime chip into the top corner.

Andy Barcham kick-started the evening with the first two goals, a neat finish and looping header, Reto Ziegler smashed home from 25 yards and Lee Barnard raced onto Jamie O'Hara's pass - he was involved in just about everything - before rounding the keeper and slotting home to put us 5-0 up at the interval.

The second half belonged to young striker Simon Dawkins, who bagged his first hat-trick for the club wth goals after 51, 57 and 85 minutes.

His first and our sixth showed a striker's instinct as he followed in Barcham's shot, Hussey parried and he was there to slide in the rebound.

Bishop's Stortford had something to smile about two minutes later as Marton Fulop made a fine save but we failed to clear our lines and triallist Giorgos Galitsios could only divert Lockett's cross-shot into his own net.

It took another four minutes for Dawkins to restore order and make it 7-1 as O'Hara cut the ball back from the byline and he converted with his left foot from 12 yards.

Hussey produced a number of fine saved but there was no denying Dawkins as, with five minutes remaining, he grabbed his hat-trick. It was the best finish of the three as Chris Riley charged in from the right before squaring to Dawkins who controlled, skipped past his man and finished low past Hussey.
