Guests including Ledley King were treated to stunning views of the London skyline at the ‘topping out’ ceremony of the Brook House development on Tottenham High Road on Tuesday.
The project, set for completion next year, is being developed by Newlon Housing Trust in partnership with the Club, and represents another significant step in the sport-led regeneration of the Tottenham area.
In an event that marked a major landmark for this ambitious project, which includes 222 fantastic new homes and a new site for Hartsbrook School, Ledley joined representatives from Newlon Housing Trust, contractors Galliford Try and Haringey Council at the top of the 22-storey Brook House development.
And the progress of the Club’s new stadium development was clear to see, as Tottenham’s landscape continues to evolve.
Hartsbrook students were also present at the event, as they got a glimpse of the first-class educational facilities Brook House will provide once it opens in 2015.
Ledley said: “This represents another important step in the regeneration of the area. You cannot help but be extremely impressed with the work taking place as you stand at the top of the Brook House development and look out upon the changing face of Tottenham.
“The new Sainsbury’s building and the University Technical College look fantastic as the stadium development continues to take shape, and it makes you realise that these are exciting times for the people of Tottenham.
“Plans for the homes that will exist at Brook House look incredible and the development of Hartsbrook School will provide a fantastic facility for young local people to further their education.”
Speaking on behalf of Newlon, Vice Chair Steve Hitchins said: “We are really excited to be helping deliver much needed new affordable homes and a new school for local people as part of the ongoing plans to regenerate Tottenham.”
Hoardings currently up around the Brook House development carry the artwork of Hartsbrook students who entered a competition to paint a picture of what they think their new school will look like.
Competition winners Loredana and Shaniya were awarded a Spurs art pack by Ledley at the ‘topping out’ event.
