All about the win - Ade

Emmanuel Adebayor insisted the win was all that mattered after firing us to victory against Everton on Sunday.

The Togo striker maintained his fine form with his sixth goal in his last nine starts in the Premier League to secure a valuable 1-0 victory against an impressive Toffees side.

The goal on 65 minutes owed a lot to the smart thinking of Kyle Walker, who caught out Everton's defensive line with a quickly-taken free-kick that Ade controlled before drilling home from the edge of the box.

It completed a turn around of form in the second half after Everton had the better of the early exchanges.

Ade talked us through his winner, which lifted us back over Everton into fifth place.

"When we got the free-kick I shouted to Kyle then made a sign, he saw it and gave me great ball, the most important thing for me was to bring the ball down as quickly as possible and then finish," he said.

"The first touch was important because I brought the ball into my run and I didn’t have any other choice but to shoot as hard as possible with my left foot, which I did.

"I’m happy, delighted, but not about the goal, about winning the game. If someone else scored, I’d still be as happy. The most important thing is winning the game, not who scores.

"We knew it was going to be tough, we played against a good team in Everton. The key thing is to win and now we move onto the next one."

The next game is against Newcastle at St James Park on Wednesday, 7.45pm.
