Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The Spurs X1 side suffered their first defeat of the pre-season campaign on Saturday afternoon - falling to a 2-0 defeat at Conference side Aldershot.
Goals on 2 and 44 minutes sealed the game for the home side and, despite a second half rally, Spurs could not find the breakthrough to spark the anticipated revival.
The M25 proved to be the first major obstacle of the day, with the team only arriving at the Recreation Ground after 3pm - having departed Spurs Lodge at 11.30am!
The Shots were not about to provide any early comfort for the young Spurs side, bolstered by the introduction of Dean Marney, David Galbraith and Shwan Jalal following their South African exertions.
With just two minutes on the clock good work by Stuart Tanfield down the left led to him firing over a low cross that centre forward Tim Sills was on hand to strike home.
It took the travel weary team some time to find their feet on the true, but heavily-grassed surface and the first chance came along on the 20 minute mark when a Gary Doherty header just cleared the bar. However, Sills came close to a second with his own header almost straight after.
Both teams were labouring slightly in the searing heat as the game approached half-time, with Spurs certainly in the ascendency, but not creating any clear-cut scoring chances.
It was the clearest of scoring chances that Aldershot were awarded a minute before the break when Ronnie Henry was adjudged to have impeded Paul Buckle inside the area. It looked anything but a penalty, but Roscoe D'Sane duly obliged for the home side to double the advantage.
Aldershot began the second period in a positive frame of mind and a John Nutter free-kick just flashed past the post, then Jalal was called on to pull off a great save low down from D'Sane.
Colin elected for a reshuffle around the hour mark, making four changes to the starting X1 and switching Doherty to a forward position.
Shortly after this Spurs came to life, sub Mark Yeates forced a great save from home keeper Richard Barnard after breaking through on the right of the area and then hit the bar from a free-kick fully 30 yards out.
Lee Barnard then saw his header cleared off the line from a corner and Doherty was squeezed out of a good scoring position following a Barnard cross.
Team: Jalal, Marney (Barnett 67), O'Donoghue, Bowditch, Henry, Doherty, Hughes, Barnard, Slabber (Foster 60), Jackson (Yeates 57), Galbraith (McKie 60).
