Ade's goal

Emmanuel Adebayor admits he'd swap his goals for wins for the rest of the season.

The striker is available again after injury for Monday night’s Premier League encounter against Sunderland.

Ade has scored 11 goals in 18 games in all competitions since returning to the team in December and is looking to spearhead a positive finale with six matches remaining.

“I feel good about my own game but it’s about the team,” he said. “There is no point in me scoring lots of goals and us losing because it means nothing.

“I would rather not score and win than score and lose the game.

“I’ve been happy with my all-round work around the team, holding the ball up, creating assists and that makes me happier than scoring goals.

“Don’t get me wrong, if I score I’m happy, but the team comes first.

“If we win the game and I don’t score, I’ll take that. If you tell me now that I won’t score again this season but we’ll win all six games, trust me, I’ll go for that. The most important thing is to help the team win."

Meanwhile, Ade is looking forward to renewing rivalries with Sunderland defenders Wes Brown and John O'Shea.

"I’ve had lots of battles with them at United and now Sunderland," he added. "They are fighting hard for Sunderland. I’m looking forward to Monday. It’s another day and another game. I’m ready and hopefully I’ll be on top of my game and help the team to win."
