Our Academy players are getting set to take on Italian side Roma in their second match at the Nutifood Cup in Vietnam.
Goals from Daniel Akindayini and Nathan Oduwa sealed a 2-1 win against Japan Under-19s in Monday’s tournament opener in front of 18,000 fans.
And there is much optimism among the camp as we get set to take on Roma on Wednesday.
“As always there’ll be squad rotation,” said Academy Manager John McDermott ahead of Wednesday’s game, which kicks-off at 3.40pm local time, 8.40am UK time.
“The physical and mental demands of Monday’s game against Japan were very, very sapping and we’ve had Tuesday as a recovery day.
“We’ve got to try and ensure that Monday wasn’t the highlight of the tournament. The positive result provides us with a base on which to build.
“We want to go out and hopefully do well against Roma and the Vietnam Under-19s side (on Friday) and hopefully be successful in winning the tournament.”
