Nathan Oduwa and Will Miller, fresh from playing in Ledley King’s testimonial match, made a special visit to Welbourne Primary school in Tottenham, to mark the official opening of the school’s new building.
The new facilities will enable the school to expand its current intake of pupils from the local area and includes six new classrooms, a kitchen, multipurpose hall and outdoor creative learning space.
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation works closely with pupils from Welbourne Primary through projects including Playing For Success, where the unique appeal of a Premier League football club is combined with innovative teaching to raise attainment at Key Stage Two and Three in literacy, numeracy and ICT; and mentoring scheme OnSide, where Foundation mentors spend two hours per week working with vulnerable young people aged 10 – 16 who may be experiencing difficulties as they move towards adulthood.
During the opening, the school choir performed a number of songs to entertain guests whilst the school’s head teacher, Parveen Duggal, cut the ribbon held by Nathan and Will, to officially declare the new building open.
