Academy into Eurofoot semi-finals

Sat 02 August 2014, 18:06|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Academy stormed into the semi-finals of the Eurofoot tournament in Belgium after racking up two wins and a draw on Saturday.

With Friday’s 3-0 triumph against Utrecht under their belts, the lads repeated that scoreline to see off KV Mechelen, before registering a 1-0 win against Genk and drawing 2-2 with Club Brugge.

It means we’ve finished second in Group A on 10 points, with a semi-final clash with Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense next on the agenda on Sunday (11.00am local time).

Shayon Harrison opened the scoring from the penalty spot against Mechelen, with two goals in three minutes from substitute Ryan Loft sealing the victory towards the end of the second period.

We followed that result up with another win, with Joe Pritchard scoring the only goal of the game against Genk in the 36th minute.

Our final group game against Club Brugge was a closer affair, Harrison firing us ahead on 17 minutes before the Belgian side levelled on 28 minutes.

A 33rd minute penalty saw Brugge take the lead, but Loft equalised four minutes later.
