Academy bounces back in Belgium

Our Academy recovered quickly from their opening 2-0 defeat to Cercle Brugge to register a 3-0 win over Utrecht on the first day of the Eurofoot tournament in Belgium.

Playing 50-minute games, our youngsters’ Friday morning encounter against Cercle Brugge got off to a disappointing start with the Belgian side opening the scoring after six minutes.

A stoppage time penalty sealed the deal, but we responded in style to stun Utrecht with three first half goals in our second outing of the day.

Cy Goddard opened the scoring on 16 minutes before Joe Pritchard made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Centre-half Christian Maghoma got forward to add number three with 24 minutes on the watch.

Saturday sees the lads face KV Mechelen (1.15pm local time), Genk (3.45pm local time) and Club Brugge (6.15pm local time).
