A special weekend for Singapore Spurs family

Wed 19 August 2015, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

In June this year, an earthquake struck on Mount Kinabalu in the Sabah region of Borneo, killing 10 people.

One of those to tragically lose their life was 12-year-old Sonia, the daughter of Singapore Spurs members Jaidip and Karen Jhala, who was on a school trip.

It was Jaidip and Karen’s love for Tottenham Hotspur that has helped them come to terms with their loss – not least a special letter of condolence sent by Mauricio Pochettino to the family soon after the incident.

This past weekend, the Jhala family took the brave step to take an emotional journey to White Hart Lane to attend their first ever match in Sonia’s memory. It was made possible by the help of the Club, AIA and the Singapore Spurs Supporters Club.

Spurs TV cameras were there to follow the visit and we can today release this moving video that tells a true story of the compassion that exists between the Club and its fans.

We would like the opportunity to thank the Jhala family, the members of Singapore Spurs and AIA for making this possible.
