Jess Naz: “It feels good to finally hit that milestone”

Tue 30 April 2024, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It has certainly been a season to remember for Jess Naz and she achieved another huge milestone for the Club on Sunday.

The forward made her 100th appearance in Lilywhite in our 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, a significant achievement at just the age of 23.

Our number seven returned to the Club at the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign, having initially been here between the ages of 12 and 15, and was part of the side that secured promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League for the first time in May, 2019.

Now, in her fifth season at the Club, Jess has enjoyed a fantastic season to date, featuring in every WSL game so far – the only player in our squad to do so – and has netted six goals, her highest goalscoring campaign in her career so far.

Learning from players like Martha [Thomas] and Bethany [England] has definitely grown my confidence

Speaking to SPURSPLAY following the stalemate with the Seagulls, Jess reflected on reaching a century of appearances and how working alongside two experienced forwards has helped her confidence.

“I didn’t actually realise I hit that this afternoon [against Brighton],” she told us. “It’s a great achievement, I have been here for a long time now and had a couple of injuries, but it feels good to finally hit that milestone.

“I think this season has been really good for me, personally. The manager has come in, it has been a fresh start for everyone and the new girls have been great, but learning from players like Martha [Thomas] and Bethany [England] has definitely grown my confidence, helping me to perform, score goals and get assists, it has been great.”
